Dr. Mel J. Dorner
Dr. Dorner was born in Metairie, La. He graduated from East Jefferson High school and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1994. He served in the Washington Artillery of Louisiana Army National Guard, and when activated, served with the U.S. Army in Operation Desert Shield.
He began his veterinary career at Animal Care Clinic under the management of Dr. Jack E. Johnson. When Dr. Johnson retired in 2008, Dr. Dorner acquired the practice. Dr. Dorner enjoys all fields of veterinary medicine, especially orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation.
He is married to Kim Dorner and has two daughters, Ashley and Helayne. His wife, Kim, is employed at Ursuline Academy.
Dr. Lauren Esposito
Dr. Lauren Esposito is originally from Chalmette, Louisiana where she graduated from Andrew Jackson Fundamental Magnet High School. .
After receiving an undergraduate degree from the University of New Orleans, Dr. Esposito obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 2008. Dr. Esposito began her veterinary career at Animal Care Clinic in 2008. Her favorite aspects of veterinary medicine are internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and being able to take part in strengthening the human-animal bond between her patients and their family members.
She also enjoys working with exotic pets. She has raised dozens of orphaned squirrels and has owned rabbits, ducks, rats, turtles, and
a bearded dragon. When not at the clinic, Dr. Esposito enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including gardening and camping with her rescue dogs in tow. She also shares her home with a once orphaned cat named Delilah.
